In 2009 Rudy joined Biggest Loser season 8 as one of the season’s heavier contestants, weighing in with a starting weight of 442 pounds. This father of two took on the challenges of the Biggest Loser ranch with heart and brawn succeeding by setting unattainable goals, and reaching them.
Rudy was one of the biggest guys on campus this season, and became a punching bag for trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. It was worth it Rudy earned himself a spot as a finalist and was the second biggest loser in the shows history with a jaw-dropping weight loss of 234 pounds, an amazing 53% of his starting weight! Breaking multiple records on the show Rudy still holds the record for losing 101 pounds in 7 weeks, the fastest in the shows 10 seasons. Even though Rudy’s efforts didn’t take home the grand prize, he has won back his life, and a healthy future to share with his loving wife and beautiful little girls.
The challenge of the Biggest Loser opened up a new world to Rudy, while competing on the show Rudy developed a passion for endurance sports. Tackling many different races including in the last year 2 Marathons, 1 Half Marathon, several 5k’s, 1 Century Ride, 5 Sprint Triathlons, 1 Olympic Triathlon, and 1 Half Iron distance triathlon. Endurance sports has motivated Rudy to train longer and harder, Rudy’s goals for 2011 and beyond are to complete his first Full Ironman Triathlon, and hopefully make it to the Championship Event in Kona Hawaii.
