UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge Returns to City Bikes IRONMAN 70.3 Miami

Miami – Miami Tri Events, organizers and creators of the City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami, is pleased to announce the UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge at the 2014 City Bikes IRONMAN®70.3 Miami.

City Bikes IRONMAN®70.3 Miami is a unique racing experience that draws thousands of fitness enthusiasts each year. It features one of the biggest expositions in the IRONMAN®70.3 circuit and will kick off on Friday, Oct. 24, at Bayfront Park in the heart of Downtown Miami. The race takes place on Oct. 26 and is composed of a 1.2 mile swim in the protected bay waters adjacent to Bayfront Park, a 56-mile bike ride from Downtown Miami to the Florida Everglades and a 13.1-mile run through metropolitan Miami.

This year’s UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge consists of team relays and individual entries. Each team will represent a participating corporation. Relay teams will be made up of three individuals: a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. The UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge portion of the event provides an opportunity for positive competition among corporate teams, as well as a chance for participants to network within the local business community. The UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge aims to foster positive relationships among teammates and corporate opponents.

“We are excited to once again work with an organization that shares our commitment of providing people of all ages the chance to be active and discover sports,” said Wilber Anderson, CEO of Miami Tri Events. “UnitedHealthcare’s continued education on the benefits of healthy living fits well with our mission and that of IRONMAN, and we look forward to working with their team.”

UnitedHealthcare’s sponsorship of City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami is part of the company’s overall commitment to promoting the benefits of healthy lifestyles.

“Reinforcing the benefits of healthy lifestyles by showing that exercise can be fun and invigorating can create a culture of health and wellness for people of all ages,” said Nicholas Zaffiris, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of South Florida. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to sponsor the City Bikes IRONMAN 70.3 and host the UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge.”

Winners of the UnitedHealthcare Corporate Challenge will be the proud owners of a trophy that will reside for a year at the winning team’s offices. The winning team will be invited back the following year to defend its title. A portion of all proceeds raised by the corporate challenge will be donated to the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF). Participants and fans will have an opportunity to bid on various triathlon-inspired merchandise and experiences with all proceeds going to fund UHCCF medical grants for children.
